Breast Cancer Awareness Month… in January!?

If you haven't heard yet, I am SO excited to be able to donate 40% of all profits during the month of January to my favourite breast cancer support network, Rethink Breast Cancer. They're an endless means of support, education and advocacy for those going through cancer, or those who have the difficult task of supporting a loved one through it all. I truly wouldn't have gotten through my darkest days without them.

Some of you might be thinking, “But why now!? Isn't Breast Cancer Awareness month in October?” and that would be a very fair question. My answer is multifaceted, but I want to break it down in point form here:

  • Pinkwashing - when too many companies use Breast Cancer Awareness month to drive sales and profit. No matter how “good” their intentions may seem, there are SO many companies that use people's suffering and vulnerability to drive the bottom line.

  • Oversaturation - although a lot of companies mean well, I find that whenever I've tried to raise money for BC during October, it often goes overlooked in the sea of “offers” and “fundraisers”

  • New Year, New Habits - My hope is to start 2023 off with good health in mind. Not only does this allow me to donate 40% of profits to an amazing foundation, but it's also a way for me to share my story with you in order to remind all of you to KNOW YOUR LEMONS! (for an easy way to learn how to properly examine your OWN breasts, be sure to check out “Know Your Lemons.” Men… this includes you. Although less than 1% of men experience breast cancer, it's still worth a wee examine once and while, right?!)

  • Talk Therapy - By sharing my story with you, I'm allowing myself to talk through my trauma and revisit aspects of my cancer journey that I might not have been ready to talk about until now. So… thanks!

So if you’re looking for some fresh art for your walls, you might consider purchasing sooner rather than later. Every single purchase made this month (January, 2023) will contribute to my ultimate goal of donating to Rethink Breast Cancer. 40% of all profits made will go directly to them, so they can keep doing their wonderful magic!

Not in the market for art prints? Why not grab a pack of note cards?!

That’s all for now friends. If you or any of your friends/family have questions about breast cancer in any capacity, you’re more than welcome to contact me here. I don’t work in the health field, and I’m no expert on the subject, but I know my journey and that of many others. I know how I got through it and am more than happy to help anyone else along their paths.

Until next time,

xxx Alex
