Early Bird pays homage to my creative practice, and the comfort each morning brings. I wake up, religiously, at 6:15 am, just in time to watch the sunrise and drink a hot coffee without interruption. No technology, no demands or questions being asked of me. Just silence. At our country house, in particular, I tend to take a few minutes each morning just to stand outside, coffee in hand, and savour the sky. There’s something about a sky at 6-something in the morning that brings me so much hope, so much fulfilment, that I somehow feel prepared for what the day has in store. Those few precious moments of reflection and observation are all I need before setting up my paints and diving into whatever that morning calls for.
