“Wherever life plants you,

Bloom with grace.”

— Unkown

As a child, I used to wish springtime away. I couldn’t wait for those lazy summer months, when school was out and my biggest worry was what outfit I was going to wear for the co-ed dances at sleep over camp.

As I age, however, I have come to adore the springtime. To relish and cherish each fresh morning with nothing but hope in the air.

Change can be a beautiful thing.

Spring has become my yearly reminder that life can be oh so short. Things come to an end. People change, grow up, evolve. I used to think that was sad. I used to want to make time stand still. A lot.

As I have lived through life’s struggles - some large, some small - I have learned that, actually, change isn’t such a bad thing. Evolution can be beautiful. Like the flowers that grow, bloom, wilt, die and then pop back up after their winter’s nap, I, too, have the ability to change and transition and learn and grown.

This collection was inspired by slow growth. Plants and flowers have this way about them in the springtime; as if full of secrets that will unfold over time. This stage of my life is sort of like that. As I enter a new chapter, as a breast cancer survivor, time and experiences feel different now. I find myself accepting change more readily - less anxious about what lies ahead. More curious and hopeful and ready.

Because let’s face it, when you’re not sure if you’ll even get to see the future unfold, you feel incredibly lucky when you do. And you realize that, just like the flowers, things have a way of working themselves out in the end. And that, my friends, is where the magic is found in Things That Bloom.

living in abundance.

This quiet collection took a while to form. It was gentle and knowing, and allowed me to play. The pastel palette that formed with time reminds me of springtimes past; of my grandmother’s table, crisp woodsmoke air, and my old garden that would bloom each spring as if under a magical spell. This body of work allowed me to process a time of great change; of growth and renewal. For this, I will be forever grateful to my practice.

breathe. grow. change.

I hope Things That Bloom brings you the same sense of connection and peace that it brings me.
